Description
This handy little Flameware Saucepan – 1.5 qt-7 inch gives you the advantages of cooking in clay, but without the hassle of low-fire earthenware. No seasoning before using. No worry about using too much heat, although the nature of cooking in clay means less heat all the time. It’s is completely waterproof, non-stick, dishwasher safe and lead- and metal-free so it is completely non-toxic.
All Ceramic Flameware Really is Healthier
Because it is a Flameware all ceramic Saucepan, 1.5 qt 7 inch, there is no metal in this pan, anywhere and, with use, it becomes naturally non-stick but without the coatings. This handy saucepan pan can go directly from the refrigerator to a cooking surface, gas, electric, glass-top, induction (with the induction plate) or even grill if you need to reheat something. Also microwave safe.
And Flameware all ceramic does not absorb water so you can put it away damp without worry about mold. It’s dishwasher safe or easily hand washed. No fear of absorbing soap flavors no matter how you wash it.
Couple the Flameware Saucepan – 1.5 qt-7 inch, with the small Veggie Steamer for 2 and you’ve got amazingly quick easy meals!.
Our Early Trials
This all ceramic Flameware Saucepan – 1.5 qt-7 inch was one of the earliest all ceramic flameware pieces I did at Clay Coyote. Betsy used to make oatmeal just about every morning. So we set up a test. She did 2 bowls one morning, one in the All ceramic Flameware, one in an All-Clad 6 inch saucepan. Everything was as identical as she could make it. (Now this woman has put in a lot of years in, and running, restaurants).
The all ceramic cooked oatmeal had a very oat-y flavor. More complex that we imagined. The stainless cooked cereal, had a very clear sharp metallic test. Once you had tried it, you couldn’t go back to the stainless version. Was it dangerous No. Unless your allergic to nickel, which, I’ve learned, is the main metal leached out of stainless pans.
Actually after we’d gotten into doing all ceramic cookware, we started hearing from people who had that allergy and needed to get away from metal cookware and were happy to find a comparable all ceramic option.
And Check Out Its Big Brother
Besides this Flameware Saucepan – 1.5 qt-7 inch I decided to make a bigger one, a Flameware Saucepan at about 2.5 Qt 8-inch.
Universal lids are available at kitchen stores and on line. Your satisfaction is, of course, guaranteed.

Elizabeth W (verified owner) –
The Flameware 1.5 quart saucepan is perfect for one and two person meals. I cook on a gas range and decided to replace my old stainless pots and pans with Flameware. The change from cooking in metal is easier than expected. I purchased this to use by itself and in combination with the Stoneware Veggie Steamer for Two. It is working out just fine and I am happy I chose Tom Wirt at New Clay Pottery to educate me about Flameware. Each piece is unique and a work of art!
Tom Wirt –
Thanks for your comments and questions, Elizabeth. As we talked, I swung back and forth between the pouring spouts and a straight side. Actually Paula Wolfert was the one who led me to spouts when she said, but so many uses are making things that need to be poured. If you decided you wanted one with no spouts, too, that could be done down the road. (But don’t tell anyone). Thank you agin.
