Congratulations on your new Flameware Grill Basket. We think you find it one of your biggest assistants every-time you grill. Many people end up with two, one for the meat or fish, one for the veggies. A Couple of notes:
1. The handle will become hot because it’s over the flame or charcoal. Use pads!
- Keep food moving occasionally to prevent scorching. While one the all-ceramic basket was developed because metal grill pans burn food quickly, and the ceramic slows that down, it will burn if you don’t keep an eye on it.
- The grill basket will develop dark spots inside and especially outside. Don’t worry too much about it. Just scrub after it cools in soapy water with any kind of scrub pad and you’re good to go. It can also go in a dishwasher. It doesn’t have to be cooled down before dunking in water.
- As you go to use it, I’ve found a light coat of spray oil keeps most things, including fish from sticking.IDEAS:
- Besides vegetable medleys, think:
Anything that might go on a skewer like shrimp, can just go straight in the basket.
Fish is fantastic because it doesn’t stick or fall apart.
Same for steaks, chops and chicken. The ceramic slows down cooking a little but you get much less flare-up. Thank Duane for this one.
Potatoes fried in a gill basket are fantastic.
I also do meatballs in the grill basket.
BE INVENTIVE! I’m always looking for new ways to use the grill basket. Email: newclay@nutelecom.net
